One of the eight north eastern states of India, Manipur commonly known as “Jewel of India” covered an area of approximately 22,327 sq.km which constitutes 0.7 percent of the total land surface of India. It has 352 kilometres long international border with Myanmar and 502 kilometres long border with the state of Nagaland on the north, Cachar district of Assam on the west and Mizoram on the south-west. The state has a total population of 28,55,794 of which 14,38,586 are males and 14,17,208 are females.
