“That it will be, Mangus.”
They each carefully slipped wooden protectors over their blades since neither man wished to receive any serious injuries if they happened to get a little over zealous during their match.
“Shall we begin?” Travin raised his blades and swung them toward Mangus’ head which he managed to block successfully. Travin moved much faster than he thought possible as he continued to parry Travin’s attacks. Repeatedly Travin advanced and lunged until he was forced to drop his hand to the floor and lower his body under Travin’s oncoming blades. Mangus needed to attack now and lunged to strike Travin’s exposed left shoulder. With the tip of his blade, he nicked his friend’s shoulder. Travin had consistently left it exposed the entire time of his assaults, a troublesome flaw if Travin were to fight anyone other than himself.

Mangus next attack was to his torso but Travin easily blocked with his sword, though that forced Travin into a defensive stance. Increasing his effort, Mangus swung his sword faster and harder, forcing him down to one knee. Thinking he could finish it right here, he tried to punch Travin with his free hand but Travin grabbed his arm and flipped him over. He rolled back to his feet as Travin swung his swords. He had no choice but to raise his sword to block them and with swords clenched, neither man was willing to give way. That’s when Mangus realized that Travin had forgot to put on his helmet. Seeing the opening he had hoped for, he forced the swords and himself upward. It took all his strength, but he finally made it back to his
