Community service is not as bad as some people make it out to be. I myself had an internal groan when I heard that community service was required and would be set as a grade. I had only known volunteerism as doing a dull boring task with no discernible reward. But after experiencing it for myself I found it quite the contrary. Volunteering is a way to meet new people and witness a group working toward a greater cause.…

In Serve or Fail, the author, Dave Eggers, brings up the point that community service should be required in colleges. According to Eggers, “college is too long-it should be three years-and even with a full course load and part-time jobs there are many hours in the days and weeks that need killing.” He believes that with all of the free time that students have, they should do something productive and helpful like community service. Additionally, Eggers thinks that if colleges were to require community service, then it would not only improve their working environment, but it would also touch and improve each student. I would agree with Eggers because I have found out that when colleges require community service, it increase their students’ self-efficiency, boost their teamworking skills, and helps them find a sense of responsibility.…

I have completed many hours of community service and I believe that it is my responsibility to involve myself in my community in any way possible. Getting involved in the community helps build a strong character and it teaches certain values that will benefit other communities. Speaking of community improvement, it is also my responsibility to pay any taxes set for me by our state and federal governments. Without taxpayer money, it would be impossible to maintain many of our most precious and crucial government funded organizations. If the American people allowed those organizations to fade away, we would be hurting our country and helping ourselves.…

True American Service One thing that is great about the United States is the right to choose. Mandatory service is a direct conflict to the values on which this country stands. If service became mandatory, we open ourselves to lose the integrity of said service. There's a chance that ill-willed people could be placed in a position to cause others harm, intentionally.…

Civil Service, the other way that you can serve your country for all the freedoms it has given you, specially in America. Something that should be mandatory for every American after high school is civil service because it teaches people to appreciate the work others do every day, it also teaches Americans to cooperate with other ethnicities. People of other religious beliefs, teaching them tolerance and teamwork, finally it can also teach them important or needed skills like leadership and endurance. How do I feel about character, leadership, and service? I feel that leadership and service are both parts of a good character. When you meet an individual that is an outstanding leader and services others you often deem them to be someone with good character. I want to be a person of good character and to represent myself as a person that they can trust to get things done and get them done well. The Harvester Judgment is inherently rooted within the context of what the Australian people owe the government and vice versa. In a more specific sense, it is concerned with minimum wage laws and equal pay. However, the broader issue at large must be considered.
