The famous Civil Rights Activist, Malcom X, once said, “The future belongs to those who prepare for it today.” When people become alert and wide awake about the numerous horrific conflicts that face them daily, the individuals that are prepared for it will overcome the conflicts; the individuals that are still asleep will be left behind. In the powerful speech, “The Ballot or the Bullet,” Malcom X, discusses the importance and criticality of people coming together and resolving their conflicts quicker before they catch hell. He warns his audience that he is not here tonight to “argue or discuss anything we differ about” but to comprehend and realize that we have the “same problem, a common problem,” (The Ballot or the Bullet). The mind and heart of numerous African Americans were torn because the Black Christian Community targeted and attacked racism in their own way, so did the Black Muslim Community. Some groups wanted to heal violence with love and non- violence and others wanted to fight violence with violence. Both groups were unable to disinfect racial discrimination due to separation. The separation of African Americans sparked a flammable violence and did not cure anything. Malcom X asks his people to forget their differences and different approaches in order to realize that all of the groups are one target, which they need to come together to fight their tribulations. It is critical for African Americans to “differ in the closet” but when “facing him,” the white man, we have to argue our differences until we get the freedom that has been stolen from us (The Ballot or the Bullet). If different groups face the man with different approaches, the man will realize that these people do not know where they are heading and are blinded by current evil performances. When different groups, once confused, collaborate and focus on the bull’s eye of their main target, the better it will be for them to hit the eye due to their well thought plans and actions.
