Section one: Making Connections
1.nAs I started reading this book I felt sad and remorseful at the same time. When I did the math and found out at what age ‘Ma’ was kidnapped it made me think of all the life experiences she may have missed out on. The book also made me realize that we don’t really need the things we do. When Jack was born ‘Ma’ made Jack think that all Jack would need in life was the objects and furniture they had in the tiny room they were kept in.
Section two: Plotting Along
4. I think the best part of the book had to be when ‘Ma’ started explaining to Jack that there is more in the world than the room they are stuck in. Because ‘Room’ and it’s belongings was the only things Jack knew as being real life , it was really interesting seeing how hard it was for Jack to cope with everything. When ‘Ma’ would try and persuade Jack that outside is better it was interesting to see him resist leaving his captor because it’s all he’s ever known. Jack was born in the tiny room and has never stepped outside of it until he was five years old. When the escape happened I liked how Jack would grow and have a new love for ordinary things. Yet sometimes Jack would sometimes want to go back to the tiny room because he was too overwhelmed. Which I would say was the worst and annoying parts of the book, because Jack should have been happy that he was able to escape. …show more content…
The ending of the book was just how I thought it would be. It made me glad to know that Jack and his mother were able to escape Old Nicks’ Captivity. It made me happy to know that at least this book had somewhat of a happily ever after. Ma was able to reunite with her family after eight years of being kept away from them.Jack was able to experience what real life was. I would however like to know where they would be 10 years from now and how far they’ve come and how well Jack has adapted with the real
