Here at Mckendree University, Students are given all the tools necessary to be successful. The idea of what success is varies based on opinion. Some believe success comes from the amount of happiness in your life. Others believe it’s the amount of money you make or the rank you have in your job. Some believe it’s how close you are with your friends and family. Whatever it may be, to be successful one must be able to advocate for themselves, also known as making their mark. “Make Your Mark”, which is an important motto at Mckendree, encourages students to advocate their ideas on all aspects of college, in hopes of developing and then taking those important skills to the outside world after graduation. The lair is suppose to be a place that we, as students, can go to hang-out and have fun while still being on campus. The current lair we have, accomplishes that idea as a place to hang out but we feel that it could us a “face life”. At New Student Orientation, the Student Government Association told us that they are allotted a specific amount of money to use towards things students suggest to them. If we got enough students to sign a petition or go to SGA about the lair, we could get enough funding to get new furniture, paint, murals, games, televisions, and other things that would be nice to replace. We could even get others to make their make by having current art students to come paint a new Bearcat mural and we can get more people to help by letting them use the time they spent helping, as volunteer hours. By revamping the Lair, we feel that it would bring more kids to the Lair and out of their room. It could be a place clubs can meet and big sporting events or tv shows could be broadcasted there to bring people together. With everything else around campus being improved, why not improve the Lair and let the students “Make Their Mark” by doing so. Therefore, we think it would be very beneficial to update the Lair and make it a more inviting place to
