Introduction
If I an exchange student in a University in a foreign country when the students' organization requested me to organize a cultural performance to introduce my country, I will present Malay traditional dance arts as my cultural performance to represent my nation. Dance can be defined as the art of dance movements of the body, legs and arms to the beat of the music played. Dances from each nation has its own origin. I will introduce Malay traditional dance arts called “Mak yong” as a cultural performance to represent my nation to other.” Mak Yong” dance is a traditional Malay dances that are very popular in Malaysia especially in Kelantan. “Mak yong” dance drama is a form from combination some various elements such as the elements

It is because I want to share with other about my differencess and the speciality of traditional dance in my nation. “Mak yong” has their own differencess from others because its combine many thing to produce their own identity. Its combine acting, singing, and dance in one story. Its not just an intertaiment but it also give a good moral value to people because of their stories related to our daily life.
Beside that, the reason why I choose “Mak Yong” because of the uniqueness of his clothes rather than other dance. “Mak yong” dance performance does not need a lot of clothes but once the clothes for the characters in the show are expensive. Important characters in makyung given a special name and each character has its own full dress even for what the story though. For the important male character its called as “Pak Yung”. “Pak Yung” will wearing a yellow silk dress, not collared, short sleeve and must dressed

Besides that, at the top of “setanjak”, its will decorated with some jasmine flowers. Some bunch of jasmine also hung on the bottom of the left ear.
Same like “Pak Yung” , “Mak Yong” princess costume is also very similar with it. They will wear a silk blouse and wearing a brooch of gold and gems. Silk “sarong” will be tied with string waist and will be suspended on the left shoulder with a piece of ‘sibar’. “Sibar” fabric will be made with gold thread. “Mak Yong” princess would wear a wrist strap, gold, gold ankle bracelet and ring the grant of the king. So because of this uniqueness of their character clothes, I want to show to other about what my nation cultural have.
Next reason is to introduce the Malaysian traditional musical instruments. “Mak yong” dance only used traditional musical instrument for their perfomance. Example of “Mak yong” musical instrument like Gongs, drums mother (gendang ibu), child drum (gendang anak ), cymbal, “kesi”, flute and “rebab”. Reason why I want to introduce its because new generation nowadays sometimes does not know the type of traditional musical instruments that our nation has. Communities nowadays more prefer to new musical instruments like guitar, piano and other musical instrument. So, when I used cultural performance to introduce my country, other nation know about traditional musical instruments that Malaysian

Many cultures have a history of story-telling or folklore, and many times during special occasions, holidays, seasonal observances people performed these stories in a play for the community. It takes a special type of artistry to direct a play, organizing, and developing many parts into one smooth story, so the audience will become infused in the play. Cultures like Japan, Greek, Aboriginal Australians, and most Native American cultures all practice special ceremonies, where ancient beliefs, and legends are performed by special actors for the community. While many of those Giants of the Arts usually evolved from those early European pioneers, but I believed wealth and opportunity allowed for their notoriety, while other cultures still offered a unique style of art. Many people differ in their idea of a play or theater, because most think of Shakespeare as the typical of playwriting, but I would choose to direct a Zuni Harvest Dance, so I could bring some understanding to a different cultures art.…

Studying culture through dance has shown me many diverse groups throughout the world and how they have been discriminated against. Growing up white in the middle class has made my life go right along with the majority of society, and therefore, I have not experienced much discrimination or prejudice throughout my life.…

As stated before in our first lecture, dance is a living and fleeting art form. I believe that dance is a living art form because it is a three-dimensional picture to art. What I mean by this is that, art is normally seen on walls or as sculptures, but dance is an amazing opportunity to view art while in movement. If you are anything like me, when I look at a painting of two people or many, I always wonder what it would be like to see them actually dancing, singing, or even laughing. By watching dance, it is my living art form.…
