In 1927 the American Association of State Highway Officials published two collections of regulations. Following WWII, roads were improved and again, was a large increase in vehicle population. Most motorists were used to typically driving 45 MPH or lower. When they implemented the interstate, many people were afraid of traveling 65-90 MPH. Today, with more people using motor vehicles, there was a serious need of improvement on traffic laws. To focus on the three most common traffic violations, the government implemented speed limits, stop signs and stop lights, and laws to prevent unsafe driving. In 2017, nearly everybody driving on the roads has a cellphone, which can be the source of distracted driving.
