“I’m philosophically opposed to people doing ‘the wave’ at a Major League Baseball game.” I stated with the calm of a surgeon but slightly agitated. “My reasoning is simple; just because you are bored, it doesn’t mean there isn’t something really important going on.” I said, looking for a nod of acknowledgement that would be worthy of this great insight. That nod never came. But I continued because I felt I needed to make my point. “There is always a strategy in the mind of every player out there, or a play on the field to be considered. “People are just trying to have fun,” my wife once protested. “Whatever!!” Don’t get me wrong; I enjoy doing the wave to have fun with the crowd. But if someone got up and started the “wave” on Sunday morning while I was preaching, no one would say, “Come on Philip, relax a little, they are just having fun.” The trouble was I didn’t need another distraction. I have this ADHD situation that is difficult enough for me to manage. Everything is a potential distraction that will get me sidetracked so I can’t focus on the important stuff.
