Major Depressive Disorder: A Case Study

According to Sadock, Sadock, and Ruiz (2017), the DSM-V criteria for major depressive Disorder includes a manifestation of five or more symptoms that must occur within a two-week period and has caused a change in the person’s pervious level of functioning. In addition, a symptom of a depressed mood or anhedonia must be present within the two-week period. The diagnosis of perinatal depression occurs when major depressive symptoms occur during pregnancy and up to one month after delivery (Sadock et al., 2017).
