There is another type of fats – trans fats. They are extremely unhealthy because they lower HDL levels and increase LDL levels which can lead a human to a higher chance of heart disease. They have many functions in our body (e.g. repairing/building muscle tissues, antibodies, etc.) and one of these functions is to serve as catalysts. These catalysts are called enzymes. They speed up chemical reactions in our body without being used up. Many people live their lives without even suspecting what keeps them alive. Now, when I know more about macromolecules, I can be more efficient during the day and feel good in its end. For example, I need energy in school for a long period of time. What’s more, I play tennis and now I know what I should eat before, during and after practice.
