In WIlliam Shakespeare's Play Macbeth there is one main central idea, or theme.The theme is demonstrated strongly in the beginning of the plot and enforced with the end. The authors choices in staging and where certain scenes take place also emphasize the plot and theme There is only one strong theme present, the opposition of what feels good and what is morally correct.
The summary of the plot begins with Macbeth and Banquo hearing the witches prophecy of Macbeth becoming the king when King Duncan passes and Banquo's descendants being in the line after Macbeth. After Lady Macbeth hears the prophecy she is willing to get her husband to do whatever it takes to get that power and encourages her husband to kill Duncan so he becomes king. In Act 1 scene one stage directions say there is a storm starting a dark atmosphere that the rest of the play will now follow. In Act 2 scene 2 the killing of King Duncan is done off stage in between the two scenes which create the reader or audience to leave it up to their imagination on how the murder took place and how violent the crime was. In Act 3 scene 4 onstage there is a feast , there is a banquet that is seen with a lot of people and lots of props such as food or what you would expect to see in a feast held by a king. This creates a idea of how high up in society Macbeth is now, but the feast is interrupted by Macbeth,only, seeing and interacting Banquo's ghost which make all of the guests view Macbeth and a little off. In Act 4 scene 1 on stage it shows the witches, with the help of Hecate, are brewing up visions to come to Macbeth creating a false sense of security which lead to his ultimate fall. Lastly in Act 5 scene 2 outside the castle, it is seen that Scottish soldiers a discussing what's going to happen with the army situation. Being that the Scottish army is supposed to be on Macbeth's side it Shows the reader or audience that Macbeth's downfall is inevitable.
