MTSS Student Intervention

Decent Essays
I was fortunate enough to be selected as the MTSS meeting coordinator for my school. I arrange meeting times with teachers and the rest of the MTSS committee and suggest possible courses for student intervention. Interventions I mention are frequently chosen as the best course of action for a student and I assist in their implementation in the classroom. My knowledge of educational technology plays a large role in the MTSS culture at our school and has enabled our students to participate in successful interventions that may not have taken place otherwise.

Also, I support the system of MTSS in my own classroom by identifying students with academic and behavioral needs, presenting them to the MTSS committee, and running my own interventions.

To address these concerns researchers have established several systems. One such system is called positive behavior support (PBS) (Crone & Horner, 2003; Crone, Horner, & Hawken, 2004) and the other is Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), which reflects the work of Weissberg and his colleagues affiliated with the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) (Weissberg, Kumpfer, & Seligman, 2003).
