During one of interacts my nurse had with her patient, they talked about the importance of keeping her child healthy and to take extra precautions so she wouldn’t get the flu while she was doing chemotherapy. If she did get sick, it was be extremely hard on her immune system and it would take a longer period of time than it normally would for her to get rid of the virus. The girl had just started her first week of preschool, but the mother and the nurse both agreed it would be best to take the patient out of preschool during flu season to decrease her risk of getting sick and decided that she could return to preschool after Thanksgiving if she was well enough.
