Luther Movie
Luther was the most important person in the Reformation of the Roman Catholic Church. He was responsible for many important works and writings in the Church, Such as the Small Catechism, The 95 Thesis, and translations of the Holy Bible in many different languages. Luther was well known for his work mainly because he based his work on three main topics, Love for God, Sacraments, and Love for each other. Another important thing he taught was not to fear the laws and judgment of man but to fear the laws and judgment of God. In Luther’s life he went through many struggles. Martin Luther used these Theses to display his unhappiness with the Church's sale of indulgences, and this eventually gave birth to Protestant religion. It defied the teachings of the Church on the nature of penance, the authority and power of the pope and the efficacy of indulgences. That created a dispute that would result in the Reformation and the birth of the Lutheran, Reformed, and Anabaptist traditions within Christianity. Martin Luther did not intend the Thesis to be a program for reform, or an attack on the Pope, etc. He was only questioning the indulgences. The main purposes of the 95 Thesis was because the Church was no longer focusing on God but on men, which they shouldn't have been doing because of the positions they were in. The other main focus was that people were thinking they didn't have a direct link with God, but that there were middle men whom they had to approach to reach God. The Popes at church were not paying enough attention to those outside who were suffering and poor. The 95 Thesis promoted the protestant reformation, it brought many changes in religion and in way of life, and new religions were formed off of the protestant religion. In the 95 Thesis, Luther brought up many important points. The 95 Thesis established what true repentance is and the limits of the Popes power and will. The Confession mainly went over the 28 Articles of the Christian Faith. The thing that makes it significant is that it officially ended the religious struggle between the two groups and made the legal division of Christendom permanent within the Holy Roman Empire. The Peace established the principle which allowed German princes to select either Lutheranism or Catholicism within the domains they controlled; ultimately reestablishing the independence they had over their states. Subjects, citizens, or residents who did not wish to conform to the prince's choice were given a period in which they were free to migrate to different regions in which their religion had been accepted by the rulers
