Her first month at her new high school was finally almost over and all Lauren wanted to do was go home and sleep. The past month had been a rapid mix of cheer practice, school, homework, and socializing with little time for sleep. Now thinking of how she wouldn't be able to sleep until after a long night of flips, spins, tosses, and cheering is over, she continued down the hallway towards the roar of students chattering at the lunch tables. Approaching the mass of petite girls wearing the required blue and gold uniform, Lauren was surprised by the dull throbbing that was developing directly above her right eyebrow. As she got closer the pressure had built so that by the time she finally arrived and sat between Nikki and Sammy, the dull throbbing had grown tremendously. With numerous greetings from her teammates, she became …show more content…
Lauren's eye roamed the sea of lunch tables until she spotted something that befuddled her. The group, a mix of eleven individuals, was a strange sight to see. Watching the peculiar group, as a wave of genuine laughter rolled throughout the large group of friends then dissipates into to broad smiles, she was confused as to how such different people could form such a happy bunch. The girls outweighed the boys eight to three, one was lanky with a head of flamboyant red hair that was only emphasized by the plain black crew neck t-shirt he was wearing, one was baby-faced and shy looking with wire-framed glasses, and the remaining one was lean with black thick-rimmed glasses and a maroon beanie on top of his head. The girls were all diverse in looks but nonetheless looked happy. Lauren wanted to leave her current table to sit with them, yet she knew she would feel the burning eyes of the cheerleaders so she stayed put. By the time she was done unconsciously observing them, lunch had

I watched the entrance, where the remaining few students entered and were greeted by their friends like a mini reunion. The class was covered in aquatic animals, inspirational quotes, and a giant smart board that read “Welcome to English 9.” The bell rang, “Good morning students’ and welcome to English 9, for today’s assignment I would like for you guys to get in groups of four,” said the English Teacher. Everyone quickly scrambled to get in groups with their friends. The sight of a group of three girls made me feel welcome, I asked “Can I join your group?”…

I went to the Ronald McDonald House for my city as text. Leslie and I went there on Monday night around six o’clock. I drove there so our traveling experience was not as exciting as it might have been if we had braved the bus. Traffic was a little heavier than I usually drive in, but that doesn’t take much for a girl has grown up driving on gravel roads. The directions to the Ronald McDonald house were fairly simple, but the house itself was tucked back a little farther.…

Throughout my life, my friends and family call me “Chef Steve”. They call me this because I always end up cooking and revising my mom’s food. In my strong opinion, I know the extra ingredients to make the food taste more appetizing. With the right seasoning and amount that I put in the crawfish is as easy as learning how to breathe. My most wished for food of all time is garlic crawfish, not only because of the taste, but for the process of how its made.…

The sidewalk beneath my feet has begun to erode away, pieces of rock and fragmented cement escaping onto the barren street. Weeds have sprouted between the cracks, and bright-yellow dandelions poke their faces towards a dull, overcast sky. My sister is dragging her feet. The soles of Layna’s shoes roll against the grit, and the grating noise gnaws away at my unravelled nerves.…

I would visit Applebee’s again for several reasons; it is affordable, causal, and the food is really good. As a college student, the first thing that I consider before eating out is how affordable the place is. Compared to Olive Garden, I would say that this restaurant is a lot less formal, less costly, and a lower food quality. Overall, my experience was fun and enjoying because I felt relaxed sitting, laughing, and eating with my friends. When come back next time, I may try a dessert.…

It was in the fifth grade at Boones Ferry elementary school. It was spring time, and the leaves were growing and the sun was shining that day. It was one o’clock at lunch time and a bunch of girls sat at a lunch table closest to the doors to outside. The lunch room was small and could only fit the fourth and fifth graders. There were six of us at the table, Summer, Kaleah, Nicole, And maddie.…

What could I clean in my room for Spring Break? I could probably clean the papers lying all over my room that my little sister throws everywhere. My room is very messy with papers that have scribbles on them from my sister. I should also clean my closet because it is filled with old clothes that are too small for me to wear. I can also clean all of my sister’s toys that are under my bed.…

Let's get one thing straight. We are not the Breakfast Club. We did not meet by chance, and we did not leave whether or not we would always be friends a mystery to those who were watching us. As far as I know, we will always be friends, and if we are not, I’ll always try to remember what made us, us.…

I found the light in the interrogation room to be simultaneously too dim and annoyingly bright. The burns, scrapes, and bruises that covered me, made every move a painful one, but I wasn’t about to tell either detective that. I would put on a good face even if it killed me, which was something that had legitimate potential. “Please state your name for the record,” commanded the man on the other side of the room.…

Friday Mornings I rushed my full stomach to my room and I pulled out the bottom of my semi formal clothings and pants drawer. Being the control freak that I am, I also picked out my brother’s outfit. My mother was kind enough to let me select my own outfit to school as a second grader. Enrolled in a small, private, and conservative Christian school, where the moms are very in everyone’s business; not many of my friends were allowed to pick out their “free friday” outfits. Although now, I wish my mother would restrict some of the things I wore.…

The Trip to the Grocery Store I haven’t seen him in weeks or maybe even months, I thought as I glared across the small distance between where I was standing and my dad’s car. With my One Direction CD clutched in my hands, I started to close the distance by walking towards his car. I opened the door and slipped in, and then he started to drive to the grocery store. At the time I was under the illusion that my dad would be even slightly happy to see me, but no.…
