Lucy Assessment Paper

The purpose of the assessment that would be to figure out the reason why three year old Lucy parent are concerned with her speech. Lucy parents’ report that she doesn’t talk as much as her friends in preschool, and people that Lucy isn’t around every day can’t understand what she is saying. The process of Lucy assessment would begin with obtaining any relevant records that we might have as well as the case history that we can find. With the data gathering process we will have to meet with Lucy and her parents for an interview and those that are around her on a regular basis. The various question that would be asked is to figure out what are Lucy speech and language abilities. The assessment that I would administer is the Goldman-Fristoe Test of Articulation, Second Edition (GFTA™-2). This test measure a systematic measure of articulation of consonant sounds. In addition to that assessment I would do a speech, language sample that would provide me with an overall sense of Lucy language ability and also a hearing test.

This test measure a systematic measure of articulation of consonant sounds for children and young adults. The age range for this test is 2:0 to 21:11 years old. The test provides information about a child’s articulation ability by sampling both spontaneous and imitative sound production. The child would respond to picture plates and verbal cues that is given by the clinician with single-word answers that demonstrate common speech sounds. This assessment also provides further measures of speech production. I would use this assessment to measure articulation of sounds, determine types of misarticulation, and compare individual performance to the norms. The result of this assessment would help indicate if that Lucy has a speech articulation problems that we should be concerned
