The movie We Were Soldiers is based on the Battle of Drang in November 1965. The United States Army 1st Battalion specifically, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division was in charge of Lt. Col. Moore who from the beginning demonstrated his leadership among his soldiers. From the moment Lt. Col. Moore began training its soldiers acted in such a way that he could win the confidence of his soldiers while serving as motivation for them. Before leaving American soil he promised each of his soldiers to "Dead or alive we will return home together”. Since the beginning of the battle we can see the Lt. Col demonstrates its commitment to ensure the lives of their soldiers, of course without affecting the mission to be fulfilled.
