This is an extremely gripping film set in the 1940's in South Carolina when a poor man, Noah Calhoun, falls for Allie Hamilton, a wealthy young woman. This film explores the theme of love and the importance of setting.
In my opinion, an important theme in the film "The Notebook", directed by Nick Cassavetes and based off the well known novel of the same name, is Love. This is the most prevailing theme throughout the film. Even though Allie and Noah are faced with many difficulties, their love for eachother has always united them and conquered all. Firstly, they must overcome their financial differences as Allie is wealthy and Noah is not, this causes pressures from friends and family, especially Allie's parents. At the beginning of Noah and Allie's relationship, Noah

Allie's mother also hid the 365 letters that Noah wrote Allie when they were seperated. This not only shows the love that Noah has for Allie but how hard it would be to overcome their social differences. They also face distance and the amount of time they are apart. Noah stays in South Carolina and Allie goes to New York. Despite this, when Allie gets married to another man, she comes back to South Carolina to see Noah and faints when she sees Noah in the newspaper, also Noah's main motivation for rebuilding his house was a promise he made Allie. This shows the love Noah and Allie have for eachother even though they were seperated and had both moved on in other aspects of their lives. Even in later years when Allie is diagnosed with alzheimers, Noah still sticks by her side and loves her unconditionally. I think this is interesting to readers

The chapter “Love” in the book “The Things They Carried”, is broken up into two parts. It first begins the chapter out with talking about who is Jimmy cross as a person. Next, the author goes back into discussion about “Martha” a name and story we've seen first chapter. By breaking the story up into two parts, the author wants to keep a focus on the main character but also wants to keep this idea of importance of Martha alive and in reader's mind. The author does this by using Bildungsroman, and different ideas of tone.…

The shift from the first story to “Love” is one of the most jarring in the book for the reader who expects a traditional novel or a collection of short stories. In a novel, it is unlikely that there would be a shift in geography (Vietnam to Massachusetts), time (many years) and narrator (third person omniscient to first person) all at once. In a collection of short stories, on the other hand, two stories would not normally share the same characters, themes and events. “The Things They Carried” jars by doing all of these…

Most people think about how love used to be before the 21st century. In the book Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari and Eric Klinenberg, a comedian and a sociologist, both compared the modern and the old way of romance. Ansari and Klinenberg explained how the couples back in the 50’s through 90’s would meet and marry right away. People would marry within their neighborhood for example, in the same building of apartment, just couple blocks down from their house or parents would arrange their marriage. The relationship back then were three steps just somewhat similar today, meet each other, meet each other’s family and meet furthermore of each other throughout the marriage.…

The portrayal of love in Much Ado About Nothing is divided among many characters relationships; love is depicted to be a complex series of events starting with an initial honeymoon stage, followed by deception driving the relationship into failure and then giving it strength to regain its allure. In the various relationships within the play, Shakespeare implies a period of love in which both counterparts have faith in the relationship and are full of love for each other, seeing no failure up ahead. Shakespeare uses Hero and Claudio throughout the book as a principal couple, Hero is an ideal wife and Claudio is the most perfect man in Messina. Claudio decides he has been in love with Hero for a long time, and was merely distracted with the…
