10 June 2016 packaging The loss of creature was written by Walker Percy in 1954. He provided loads of examples in this paragraph in order to prove that most people had lost their sovereignty without awareness and became consumer. In the second part of the loss of creature he put forward a word “packaging” to illustrate why people lost their sovereignty and became consumer. I totally agree with Percy’s idea that “packaging” has a bad effect on people. In this essay, I will explain Percy’s attitude toward “packaging” and provide my own experience to explain my perspective in “packaging”.
The normal meaning of “package” was a wrapping of things. As the meaning of Percy want to explain, “package” covered

Compared to the citizens, students’ sonnet was concealed by a symbolic package which formed by the media (Percy 306). “The media supposed to transmit the sonnet but succeed in transmitting themselves” (Percy 306). The students may give all the answers temporarily but only remember the surrounding they first read sonnet after twenty years instead of what sonnet itself (Percy 306). “Packaging” referred to the memorable surrounding during learning sonnet. The “packaging” which supposed to help students understand better the real meaning of sonnet even covered the real meaning of sonnet. The education “package” puzzled students and make them regard the sonnet is just such good surrounding. I was forced to learn an instrument when I was young like many children. Actually, I was not interested in any kind music at all. I was forced to learn Chinese zither, a kind of Chinese traditional instrument because my mom thought it could make me more patient in dealing with things. I usually became mad when I was forced to do something that I was not willing to do. Therefore, I have done a load of crazy stuff to my Chinese zither to show my unwillingness, for example, I used to use scissors to cut down the string. However, this kind of revolt was useless because the result was my mom fixed the Chinese zither and asked me to learn it again. There were many exams to test our level in performing Chinese zither, so I thought I could get rid of the control of studying Chinese zither by passing all the level test exams. I started to learn it harder in order to accelerate passing the exam. Finally, I have passed all the level tests in five years and stopped learning anything about it. Every time when I heard people talk about how Chinese zither influence their ways of dealing relationship with other and how their temper became tender and softer, I was confused that why I never had changes by leaning Chinese zither even I have learnt it for five years. In my experience of learning Chinese zither, the “packaging” is the method of playing Chinese zither. I leant the “package” only for passing the tests that

The sonnet seems to come from an accusation of infidelity. An accusation which the poet disagrees with. Affectionately, he clarifies that he can never separate himself from this young man. This is demonstrated many times when he says, “To leave for nothing all thy sum of good, For nothing this…

However, with freedom comes limitations. To make sense of the freedom within limits in Johnson's story, we are going to examine a text by Walter Percy called "The Loss of The Creature." The sonnet is a special form of the poetry that originated in Italy but found many supporters in other cultures. The peculiarity of the sonnet form is its adherence to definite rules. For example, the traditional Italian sonnet includes two quatrains and two tercets. However, many authors played with the sonnet forms and introduced something of their own. For example, William Shakespeare known as the master of sonnets has introduced his own form of the poem and the rhyming system.…

The specific topic of Asadorian’s article entitled “The Rise and Fall of Consumer Culture” argues that consumerism has been embedded in our culture, to such an extent that we view it as a “natural” way of life. The purpose of this article seems to be that humans need to realize that our culture of consumerism has everything to do with our treatment of the environment, and it tries to explain exactly in what ways institutions, media, and the government have contributed to this unsustainable state of our society. In the article Assadourian makes his argument that mankind needs to transform its culture to focus on sustainability. His main thesis is that these patterns of consumption are neither sustainable nor innate manifestations of human nature,…

On the other hand, Sonnet 60 ditches the rise and fall configuration and uses lines 3 and 4 to lend further understanding to the speaker’s first lesson: In reference to minutes hastening to their end, “Each changing place with that which goes before, / In sequent toil all forwards do contend” (3-4). In the present, minutes displace one and other yet meet identical fates. Lessons such as time’s inevitability and unrelenting speed help characterize the sonnet’s solemn mood.…

Modern Sonnets: Extending Beyond Petrarchan Idealism Through Lineation and Meter Historically, the sonnet is a form that expresses beauty, perfection, and ideals. While the Petrarchan blazon sonnet is focused exclusively on objectifying the female body, modern sonnets such as Alice Notley’s “Sonnet 15” and Claude McKay’s “The Castaways” veer away from that Petrarchan idealism. In “Sonnet 15”, Notley writes of the speaker’s heartbreak from a past relationship.…

Secondly, the way that Shakespeare constantly refers to himself in progressively vaguer terms. Amongst the three quatrains, he starts with “I”, then “the hand”, and ends with “verse”. This progressively diminishes the thought of Shakespeare into just the written work he has created. Subliminally, the reader will only associate Shakespeare, and his death, with his written verses, making it harder to forget him. Ultimately, this sonnet successfully makes the reader think more about Shakespeare even when the lines protest for the…

It could be suggested that through the verse form of the sonnet, alongside poetic devices, a poem can generate meaning. In Shakespeare’s Sonnet 130, it can be argued the sonnet form, with its subconcious expectations of formal conventions, and the usual notion of a sonnet being concerned with love is adhered to. However, in other ways Shakespeare breaks this and subverts these usual notions through the use of contradictions and paradoxical statements. This links to the idea that Shakespeare embraces the use of poetic devices, such as rhyme in order to convey a different message in this Sonnet, compared to the typical form. Shakespeare presents Sonnet 130 as an archetype in the structual form of the Sonnet.…
