Shooting at a long range is a lot more difficult than most people think it is. It isn’t as simple as point and shoot. Focus On Your Bullet
At the beginning of a shot, there is some anticipation. Will it be a good shot? Will you hit your target? Are you going to be the one who brings home dinner tonight? Whatever. They key to successful shooting and learning how to shoot long range is to focus, not just your scope on the target, but your mind on the bullet. When you pull the trigger, resist the urge to jump up and down saying, “Yeah”. Instead, release the trigger in a smooth motion and breathe through the shot. If you are using the Nikon Prostaff P-223 scope, you need to know how to site it so that it is zeroed in at 100 yards before you aim for something that is further away from you. It is best if you test it out first thing in the morning when the temperatures is cooler and on a very calm day. You want to try and hit the closer target without compensating for your riffle’s aim being an inch off the mark because if your scope is off by an inch at 100 yards, you will add more inches the further away your target is.
