Students attend school approximately one hundred and eighty days, which is about nine months out of the year. Stressed from homework and test, students need and deserve a long break from school. Summer officially starts June 21st, but depending on where they live some students usually get out before then. Lasting ninety four days, summer is the longest season we experience. Students are given an opportunity to relax and enjoy being a teenager away from school. Several people, including myself, have an opinion that summer is the best season out of the four we experience. Students get to enjoy the warm weather with new clothes, and participate in adventures and vacations. Living in South Carolina, you should expect crazy weather patterns.

Sometimes you would think it's summer year around because in the south you don't get a cold winter like the North. When you are outside you can see the heat waves bouncing off the concrete because the ground is so hot already. When you first step outside of your house in the middle of summer you always look down at your skin because the heat affects you so fast it causes you to have goosebumps. Summer rainstorms are one of best things about summer. Kids will put on their bathing suits and run around in the street under the rain. As soon as it starts to thunder and lighting you run inside your garage to watch the lighting strike across the sky. Unlike other seasons all around America people experience summer. Sometimes a vacation less summer is better. Staying local or even driving an hour away can bring you adventures. Summers can consist of simple roads trips with friends. My favorite is when the weather is nice and I can take the doors and roof off my jeep. Riding around with your hair flying in the wind can brighten your day. Since I have a jeep I love to go mudding and off roading. A place in Troy, North Carolina called Uwharrie is the best place to go off roading. This national forest is only opened for ATV vehicles during the summer. With hundreds of other jeeps who have their doors and tops off you get the whole experience. Climbing a conquering huge rocks and hills, while driving full speed through mud puddles. Driving like this can make you feel free and make you feel like you can do anything. Another thing that summer can bring are concerts. Since I live in South Carolina, country concerts are big. Usually every weekend there are usually big or small country stars in the area. In Charlotte, North Carolina these concerts take place at the PNC Music Pavilion. There you can bring a blanket if you have a lawn seat and sit listening to artist play. Jean shorts and country boots are usually most popular at these concerts. Summer brings new attitudes and excitement into the air. Usually wherever you live there is a lake or swimming hole. Summer brings people out onto the lake to tub, water ski, or even fish.
