Caretta caretta, loggerhead sea turtles are one of the most abundant turtle species in the United States. The loggerhead lives in some of the most frigid waters, and typically live near the coast, frequenting North Carolina as well as Florida. These sea turtles have massive, log-like heads, and extremely strong jaws for munching on shellfish. Loggerheads are ominvores and typically masticate creatures such as horseshoe crab, mussels, clams, fish and jellyfish, while sometimes eating seaweed as well. Not only are loggerheads abundant, they are also some of the most intelligent species on Earth.
