Lizabeth's Change In The Marigolds

In the story marigolds as young Lizabeth matures from childhood she changes, her perspective on life changes. She realizes that she has matured and has become an adult. I found that the theme is that it is important that people change emotionally as they get older and wiser. For example, she explains that she develops compassion after she destroys Miss Lottie's flowers, she feels that once you have lost your innocence you gain compassion when you become and adult. Another form of this change is Miss Lottie she changes emotionally as she get older because she cares for her flowers and all of her love and joy go into the flowers but she no longer cares for the presence of people or the wellness of her home. This was the beginning of compassion, and one cannot have both compassion and innocence.” (Pg 14, 372-375). Lizabeth explains to the readers that she never had compassion before when she was young. When she lost her innocence by destroying Miss Lottie's marigolds she realizes that was the end of childhood and the start of adulthood. And when adulthood starts she finally understands and gains compassion by thinking about how others feel. This is very important to understand this compassion because that is how you help people. You change as you get older, wisdom, understanding, love is all developed when you reach the end of your youth. This is very important in daily life if you want to be known for kindness and love, and most of all to stop acting like a kid and mature to make the right choices. (pg 10 231-233). Lizabeth and her friends were very ignorant towards Miss Lottie just because she had beautiful flowers. She was a young kid with no respect what so ever for her elders. Lizabeth had not realised that Miss Lottie was old and loved her flowers, she didn't stop to think about was was wrong and right. She learns this as she enters adulthood and changes because she realises that what she does is wrong. That is why change is good from you childhood because you learn not to make a fool of yourself and you have respect for those older than you. Today you have to show respect if you want it back and if you never learned and changed from your youth we would have no respect and knowledge what is wrong and what is right. And that is why it is important that people
