For my evaluation of a liturgical worship service, I visited Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Muskegon, Michigan. I attended the 10:30 mass on Sunday March 6th. Before the service, I was very excited to experience worship in a liturgical setting. Having learned about liturgical worship in class, I developed a greater appreciation for the the way that many of our Christian brother and sisters worship. Their tradition and patterns had a much more positive association in my mind after learning the purpose, history, and symbolism behind them. I was a little nervous, but I was determined to receive something from the Lord in a new way. Upon entering the church, I was welcomed by a greeter team. It took a lot of the attention off of myself and what God can do for me, and it made the service more about honoring Christ. There was a true sense of the body present. From my observation, what seemed to be the pinnacle event of the service was the partaking of the Eucharist which took place at the very end. It was refreshing to watch families partake in this sacrament together. Being that I am not a member of the Catholic Church, I respected their wishes in not partaking in the Eucharist, and the church’s explanation of why they ask non-Catholics to withhold was very professional and did not come across as discriminatory at all. Here are some of the positives of my visit to Prince of Peace Catholic Church. I believe that the Catholic church does an incredible job in the area of resourcing their congregants with anything they need to receive the most from a worship service. Everything you needed to know seemed to be explained prior to the service or was available in the manuals. I believe that the church showed incredible reverence to the lordship of Jesus
