“God” is given to the spirit or being who is worshipped as the creator and ruler of the world. Also, we use word “God” to people when they are really good at something. Nowadays, people call Lionel Messi as the “God of Soccer”.
Lionel Messi was born on June 24th, 1987 in Rosario, Argentina to a working-class family(최재훈 16). His father Jorge Messi was a factory steel worker, and his mother Celia Cuccittini was a part-time cleaner. He has three siblings: two elder brothers Rodrigo and Matias and a sister Maria Sol(김정민 82). At the age of five, he joined Grandoli, a local club coached by his father. One day, Carles Rexach, the sporting director of FC Barcelona, met Messi to scout him. The director asked Messi if he was willing to go to Barcelona, where he will receive treatments to cure GHD(김정민 103). Eventually, he went to Barcelona’s youth academy to proceed with his soccer career. Since FC Barcelona is famously known in a soccer league, many soccer players want to join the team and play with the professionals such as Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, and Johan Cruyff(“Who Is Lionel Messi?”). Like other soccer amateurs, Messi wanted to succeed in the Barcelona and wanted to become a legend. Fortunately, he quickly completed junior system ranks and was able to play against RCD Espanyol on October 16, 2004. He listed his name on history by being the youngest to play in a La Liga game for Barcelona(루카 카이올리 42-43; 최재훈 96). On a game with Albacete, he finally made his first goal on May 1, 2005(마이클 파트 136). He listed his name on history by being the youngest to ever score in a La Liga game for Barcelona(마이클 파트 136-137; 최재훈 104). Until then, he played as a substitute but he became a starter of the game in 2006. He scored countless hat-tricks and recorded 38 goals and 18 assists in this season. Another reason why Messi is the best is because he always breaks the record every year. In 2010, he scored hat-tricks three games in a row and became the first Barcelona player who score back-to-back hat-tricks in this season(“Who Is Lionel Messi?”). Also, in Champion’s league, Barcelona beat Real Madrid in the Semi finals because he scored in the game, and in the finals, Messi scored the winning goal and helped Barcelona to achieve Big Year(마이크 페레즈 44). Messi recorded 53 goals and 24 assists in 2010. Season of 2011 is the turning point for Messi because he became the second highest scorer in Barcelona(“Who Is Lionel Messi?”). With the score of 194, Laszlo Kubala came into the first place, and with the score of 132, Messi came next (“Who Is Lionel Messi?”). Also in this season, Messi scored five goals in a game against Bayer Leverkusen in UEFA Champions League. Barcelona won Bayer Leverkusen by 7:1, and Messi became the first player to score five goals in UEFA Champions League(루카 카이올리 240).
