The Roaring twenties was a time economical prosperity. For the first time, Americans lived in cities rather than on farms. Companies started to produce more as a result of costumers spending more. The streets started to fill up with cars. …show more content…
Many young people, if not most, just wanted to dance. Cars gave people new possibilities, it allowed them to go where they pleased and do what they wanted. Jazz bands played at dance halls, radio stations and phonograph records gave people music across the country. While younger people enjoyed the freedom they felt in the dance floor, some older people did not like the vulgarity in some jazz music.
The 1920s are sometimes referred to as the “age of paranoia” because of the Red Scare, Nativism and racial tensions. Many African Americans were often lynched during this time period, to avoid this, many decided to migrate to northern cities were conditions for them would be more tolerable. Nativists did not want any immigrants and during this time came the red scare. Americans feared that some immigrants were communists. Many immigrants were deported if thought to be communist or anarchist.
The 1920s were a time of chance, both good and bad. The most fitting title for this time period would be “the roaring 20s”. All things considered one cannot simply ignore the dark side of the story, so the “The age of Paranoia” can also be a fitting title, but just not as fitting as “the roaring 20s”, because the economic boom had a bigger
