According to the life expectancy quiz I will live until I’m 84, but I want to live until I’m 100 so there’s some lifestyle changes I should make. My Life Expectancy quiz said, “Increasing your exercise regimen to 3 days a week could add half a year, to 4 days a week could add a year and a half, to 5 days a week could add 3 years, to 6 or 7 days a week could add 5 years to your life expectancy.” By being more physically active I will start to lose weight which will also add 5 years to my life according to Life Expectancy. Even though I knew being a healthy weight and exercising is important I had no idea it would make that big of a difference in how long I could live. Our book explains how adults aren’t moving as much as they use to because of all the technology we have that keeps us content for hours at time. For example, you can pay your bills, talk to your friends, and watch a movie all while sitting in one spot using your smart phone. Nearly 44% of African American men and 48% of African American women have some form of cardiovascular disease that includes heart disease and stroke. (Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention) Being an African American woman I realized that I need to take my health serious so I made some changes, after taking the Life Expectancy quiz I realized the lifestyle changes I’ve made are a step in the right direction, but I need to do more. For example, not only will exercising help add 10 years to my life but it will cut back on my risk of getting a cardiovascular disease that is not only very common in African American women, but very common in my family. This quiz also told me other ways I could gain years to my life but the most shocking was physical activity and how much just doing simple everyday task could change my health.
