It’s often been said that change is the only constant and this hold true in our societal norms and views. Social change is a meaning full, observable, difference in society patterns, process, or ideologies. Social change is universal, as no society or culture has ever remained the same throughout history. Today, this societal change can be seen through the country as our views and laws evolve around the use of marijuana. In 1937 marijuana was made illegal at a federal level but starting 1996 some states have legalized marijuana for medical use only. It was not until 2012 when two states (Colorado and Washington) legalized marijuana for recreational use. So, then the question becomes, what is the social cost of legalized marijuana?
