Confucians believe that social harmony comes from an appropriate hierarchy of human relations. Some of the examples of relationships in the society include that of ruler and subject, friend and friend, husband and wife, and father and son. In addition, Confucian scholars believe that the society is better off with the Junzi. In this case, the Junzi refers to persons that possess high education and devotion. Such people are considered superior in the community. Notably, they are objective hence do not make decisions based on their emotions.

Ignorance of this virtue is an implication of selfishness, which may lead to solitude and unhappiness. Moderation involves the adherence to limitations in various aspects of life. Precisely, the best way for people to celebrate their liberty is through a consideration of limitations associated with them (freedoms). Embracing the mystery focuses on how persons react to fear and anxiety. As a virtue, it urges individuals to fight their deepest fears and desist from overreactions. Taoists argue that embracing the mystery enhances their ability to enjoy confusions at hand. In the efforts to fights fears, embracing the mystery retains the basic internal fear. Non-contrivance inhibits dogmatic tendency in individuals. Usually, morals contravened are rigid and tend to oppose the principles of nature. Non-contrivance highlights that it is impossible to regulate natural forces. Detachment is critical in eliminating bias. According to Taoists, individuals should avoid preoccupation with learned concepts as though they belong to them. Ideally, this is a good strategy for enforcing critical thinking in the society. Apart from understanding the law, the leader should follow them strictly. Leaders are required to lead by examples because ordinary members of the society look up to them for guidance in life. In this regard, a leader incapable of obeying the law is perceived to be incompetent and immoral (Pirie & Judith 127). In a legalist society, the government should incept strategies that promote social justice. Consequently, it (the government) should empower citizens to participate in activities that promote fairness. Example of such activities, include peaceful protests against injustices, voting, and charity events. Interestingly, some actions that many may perceive to be unethical are acceptable in a society of this model. For instance, euthanasia, which is commonly referred to as mercy
