You should be able to help others and lead them in the right direction. Woody tried to hide Buzz behind the desk because Andy was only allowed to take one toy with him to Pizza Planet he then accidently pushed Buzz out the window. He tried to explain to all the other toys what really happened but they didn’t believe him because they knew he was jealous of Buzz. In addition, this showed that Woody was a jealous leader and made poor decisions. As a leader you set the example and everyone is looking up to you and every decision you make. To become a credible leader you first have to fully comprehend the deeply held beliefs- values, standards, ethics and ideals that drive you (Kouzes & Posner, 2012, p.45) Indeed, Woody made poor decisions and didn’t stick to what he truly believed when he made an unethical decision. A strong leader is a person who is willing to help others and motivate them to strive to do better daily. At first Woody was jealous because he felt like his place as a leader was being taken away. Woody faced many obstacles and then realized that it is not always about being perfect and coming out to be the best. In addition, he realized that is not what a leader does and became friends with Buzz. He then was a true leader because he wanted to help Buzz and helped him believe in himself. A true leader will face many obstacles, but they have to remember why they are a leader in the first place and why they are doing it. As a leader you must enjoy what you do because then you will lack self-motivation and everyone is always watching every decision you make. If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader (Sims & Quatro, 2005, p.3).
