Kill the beast! Cut its throat! Spill its blood! These were the words said by the young British schoolboys who decided to take on the role of hunters in the book Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding. It tells a story about the boys getting stranded on an island where they quickly turn inhumane and start to act barbaric. Throughout the story, there seems to be conflict between two different leaders about who is the better participant and who has the best strategy to get the kids off the island. However, in the begging, the whole group chose who they wanted to be their leader and so that’s when Ralph was elected. But when that took place another kid named jack wanted to do things his own way. Nonetheless, Ralph …show more content…
So intelligent that he basically created his own form of gathering which was a conch in which he would blow and the boys would come. Another example is when he had the idea to make the fire that could have saved them if someone were to see them. This is shown when William Golding wrote, “ so we must make smoke on top of the mountain you must make a fire” (38). This explains that he was fast and smart and knew what he should do that will save them or get them off the island. Another example is in an article that explains leadership and what it actually is. This is important because it relates to what Ralph did. He had a main focus and main idea that he was sure get done. This is shown in the article when the author writes, “ the dominant view of leadership is that the leader has the vision and the rest is a sales problem” (3). This explains that to be a good leader you should a vision and stick and the rest is other things that come …show more content…
Ralph had to deal with a lot of things; making sure everyone was doing their part and that he could communicate with the boys. This shown when Ralph was trying to hold a meeting and jack started to question his authority, which led to chaos. This took patience to control Jack and to make sure everyone was being herd. This was shown when Golding wrote, “ why should choosing make any difference? Just giving orders that don’t make any sense… Bullocks to the rules!” (91). This shows that Jack is kind of being annoying and does not care about the rules. Another example is shown when jack was supposed to watch the fire but instead he went to go hunt. Ralph got mad just like anyone would but then again he could have done something more violet but instead he was patient and calm. This is shown when the author writes, “ you let the fire go out! Jack replied, we can light the fire again you should have been there with us Ralph, we had a smashing time twins got knocked over” (69). This shows that jack obviously was to distract with killing a pig instead of worrying about how they were going to get off the island. It also showed how ralph was annoyed but still was patient enough.
Others might say that Jack is a better leader because he had the idea to light the fire with piggy’s glasses or that jack is the stronger one. However, Jack was the one that let the fire go out thus, loosing a chance to get off the island so
