1. The text is introduced as a general background by describing Laurence Gonzales work, what direction he mostly wrote about and his writing career in years.
He elaborated based on his experience on how people chooses to live or die depending the difficult situation at hand. People sometimes gambles with their own lives by putting it at stakes, in pursuing sport or activities that seems to be more dangerous. At the end they need to make superb decisions that will determines their future.
The first thing to be done is to accept the situation as is, never complain and expect other people to assist you without trying on own first.
2. Be calm and never allow fear to rule you, if it does, use it positively to motivate all your efforts.

Aaron Ralston
Alone in a slot canyon, Aron experienced an unexplainable trauma of having his hand trapped by a stone. Decision had to be made to amputate his hand. Overcome with fear, he managed to calm himself down and make a difficult and might seem foolish decisions, for the sake of seeing another dawn.
2. Lance Armstrong
Being diagnosed with cancer, had to deal with reality when least expected. He had to be positive and strong and do what is required to ensure that he sees another day. Mostly learning about the good and the bad about cancer and had to formulate a supporting team which will assist him to stay positive to prolong his lifespan.
3. Lauren Elder
After surviving a light plane crash, and sustained a broken arm never let that be a turn off. All the icy cliffs, sharp slopes to be travelled and being stranded in the desert, she had to prepare herself mentally and physically to make it through to surviving.
4. Viktor Frankl
Being paraded to forced labor, having his family tortured, abused and mishandles and all sorts of obstacles that was brought in front of him. He had to turn a blind eye and tend to see the good in bad situations encountered and make it work for his own wellbeing.

This essay was targeted to readers whose ambitions are into sports, adventurous and those who are in professional fields.
It is not only for people who enjoys an outdoor lives as written, but taking it to every sphere of life it could do wonders, as the main ideas is all about never give up in whatever you do, be responsible for your actions and stay focussed for any obstacle coming your way. Life is a risk so we need to learn to asses each and every risk before making best decisions. We need to be calmed and be ourselves in difficult situation, and in good mind to make a better, positive decisions and take control of the situation. Sometimes we need to see good or better opportunities in misfortunes.
2. Most of the survival stories have some causalities that either make it through or other unfortunately dies. All what matters which make a different between the two is physical state of a person in danger, is he/she strong enough to accept the fact that he/she is faced with danger, calm down and take reasonable actions from decision made.
The motivation that particular person has to stay alive whenever everything has gone wrong count the most. This varies from what a person is believing in, others are driven by the love of seeing their families back at
