Anyone would think Europe must be more developed than any other Latin American country, and after a deep research and analysis of data at hand, I can strongly say that Europe does fair better than other world regions in terms of Gender Ineqality. In basic terms, gender inequality is the unequal treatment of individuals based on their gender. It also refers the to the limited types of resources and opportunities available to them based on the gender they are.

Portugal (0.989) and Peru (0.851) have fairly similar numbers. Even though these figures point towards a slightly uneven education between men and women, the figures where these ratios derived from showed a very poor portion of the population that have some sort of secondary education. This also means that the overall education and intellect of the population is not sufficient to teach their generation about health and reproduction – thus contributing to Peru’s excess population.
To end with, Based on the information provided for the indicators of Gender Inequality, I disagree that they provide an overall view of human development. There are many important aspects, like access to clean water and food, GDP per capita, and Gross National Happiness that the Gender Inequality Index does not include.
