We have had close relationships with guns as we had with violence. This started with the tough and dangerous lives of early settlers and started slavery and harsh treatment of natives. Why? Well for 1, we have seen tons of movies where criminals with guns being chased by sheriffs and their friends/posse. Now for 2, the west had simply moved to urban areas where criminals blossomed and gangs had their wars.
