“If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” - William Hickson. A quote I have never related to more. This quote explains how my lacrosse career began. I was in 6th grade and it was the first time I had ever picked up a lacrosse stick. I picked it up and was skeptical about the sport because it seemed as if it was impossible to catch or pass a ball. I played for a Wheeler high school club team for my first time ever, I can say they were not a good team. The coach was harsh and tough on the beginners like myself and he made me want to quit playing. Mid way through the season he put me in the game and I had got the ball for the first time ever, I was so excited I couldn’t contain myself. I took the ball down the field and I shot, it felt as if time froze for me. The ball was zooming towards the goal, or at least that is what I had thought. …show more content…

Marietta High School had finally developed a lacrosse team, I was so excited. The season went extremely well for a first year team, our record was 7-6-1. Summer came along after a great season at Marietta and I played for a new select team called Zero Dark 30. It was a Kennesaw Mountain and Allatoona team. The competition was tough but I pushed through it. Our team had made it to the championship game three out of the four tournaments we had. Sadly we lost all three of the championships by one point. Even though we lost all our tournaments I had made so much improvement. So now I play defense and I’ve improved so much. I’m starting to play for select teams which will help my skills improve even more. The quote, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again” was the reason I still play lacrosse to this day. The quote saved my lacrosse career, and I can’t wait to continue and see where lacrosse may bring me in the near

Therefore, this was a team of small freshmen and sophomores playing against mostly juniors and seniors at the varsity level in one of the most talented high school conferences in the state. We finished the season 1-15, most of which were pretty tough losses but we worked hard and left it all on the field every game and that in the end is all that matters. The most prevalent memory was after the last game all the players were pretty upset about how it went but our coach ended our last huddle with, “We came into this season knowing it would be challenging and we worked hard from start to finish and I think we ended this season better than we started, which means that next year is gonna be a pretty good…

My next aphorism also relates to my sport life, as well as the everyday aspects of my life. I am fifteen and have played sports for as long as I remember.
