I saw the impact a well operating blood bank had on not only patient care but their lives. While in that environment I gained greater emphasis on the critical role Laboratory Medicine has on patient care. The laboratory is at the forefront of Navy Medicine and my experience, along with my positive attitude and thirst for excellence gives me the desire to be at the helm of any Laboratory in today’s Navy. I have seen the effects of positive leadership and leadership that is lacking and believe that my integrity and devotion to duty will guide me, in providing quality leadership in any laboratory that I am put to lead. In my seven years in the Navy I have experienced how multi-faceted it is and the power of its global reach to help others. It is my belief that Officers in the Navy lead the way when it comes to sound leadership and accomplishing a mission through any obstacle no matter how difficult. Which is why I want to continue to serve the Navy in a capacity, such as Laboratory Officer. If accepted for direct commission into the Medical Service Corps for Laboratory Officer, I will continue to work towards improving our laboratory services and be an advocate for advances in Navy
