The object of the lab was to test the four substances and test them to see which one has the highest amount of catalase. The dependent variable was the amount of oxygen and the independent variable was the four substances; potato, carrots, yeast, and lettuce because they stood on their own. We could expand this experiment by testing other substances for example variety of foods including fruits and vegetables; boiled liver, onions, apple. The class gathered different data than our group but we believed the class data was more accurate because there were 14 different groups data combined in one which means that the class data is more accurate. Our group data said the lettuce had the most catalase, then yeast, carrots and with the least catalase potatoes.
