Ravel used different forms of dynamics to make the piece unique. The piece would move from mezzo piano to forte. This switching from mezzo piano to forte would vary throughout the piece. When the music was mezzo piano then tempo would be allegro, and when the music was forte then the tempo would be allegretto, lento, or at times moderato. What I thought was unique was that sometimes the left and right hand would have different tempos. A lot of the time the left hand would be playing faster than the right hand. Wang’s body was in tune with the music, her body mimicked the dynamics of the music. When the music is soft and gently she smiles and stokes the keys with care, and when the music is dramatic her body jerks and her head nods hard forward. She become one with the music, and it showed physically as she played. This is an example of, that an performer but do more that just play the music, they must feel the music as well. Wang also uses some of the techniques that we are taught in class. When its need Wang crosses her hands to hit the proper notes or chords. You can tell when notes are accented and she plays the pieces so well that you can hear the melody in the right hand. She also remembered the whole piece, which is about 11 minutes long.
