La Misma Luna is a story where a mother and her son have a special bond that will always be kept even with distance between them. After unfortunate circumstances, main character, Carlitos decides to find his mother who is an illegal immigrant in the United States. Carlitos faces many challenges but has help along the way from new friend Enrique (Eugenio Derbez). Carlitos and Rosario’s extreme bond with each other helps motivate each other to attempt rejoin so they can be a family together in the United States.
Overall audience appeal could have been better because there may have been a lack of connection with the main character, Carlitos. If Carlitos was older, the film would have been more relatable and therefore, a better movie. …show more content…
At times, the film seemed overly-sappy and made me the slightest bit annoyed, so if you aren’t one for emotional movies, this is not the film for you. The development of the plot kept people interested and was one of the most well thought-out details of the movie, along with the unique settings. The use of the moon as a symbol is a very unique way to approach movie production. Throughout the movie, there was an impressive concept of telling both sides of the story, including Carlitos and Rosario’s side of the story and what they went through.
