Her behavior is considered to be safe in nature. When Mrs.
Thayer makes a decision she will make sure that it is an informed decision with data to support and back her decision. For example, recently the registered nurses have begun to perform bedside shift report at shift change. At shift change the oncoming nurse and the off going nurse both go together in the patient’s room. The off going nurse will introduce the oncoming nurse to the patient and give a bedside shift report about the patient. Bedside shift reports have been shown that patients and their families really like them. Patients have stated that they feel like they are receiving consistency in care and that they feel like they are being involved in their care plan. Mrs. Thayer likes to give constructive feedback to her employees. Her feedback is given in an honest and supportive way of communication. For this, her employees respect her. The constructive feedback that Mrs. Thayer provides motivates her employees to set goals for improvement. According to Nurse Managers as Transformational and Transactional Leaders,
“transactional leadership is a style of leadership focused on contingent reward of followers.
