The Korean War Memorial is a national park located at Washington D.C. It commemorates the fact that during the Korean War, which occurred between June 25, 1950 and July 27, 1953, and in the end 36,574 Americans died. Among this number of casualties, 8,200 are missing, lost, or buried at sea. Also, 103,284 were wounded. The construction of it was accepted in 1986 by the Congress. It took 9 years to plan and build. It was dedicated for the 5.8 million americans who fought in the Korean War. At the memorial, there are many sites - one of which is the Pool of Remembrance which is inscripted with the list of the number of dead, wounded, and missing.
