This investigation focuses on the accident that Korean Air Flight 801 met on August 5, 1997 on Nimitz Hill in Asan, Guam. The fatal accident involves issues on Guam Airport’s differences from other airports and the misguidance of the destination airport’s operations. The pilots did not base their tasks on the airport’s systems, they based it on their knowledge and on what they were used to. The cockpit crew’s incorrect decision, miscalculation, and reliance to wrong information lead to the tragedy. The cabin crew contributed also to the tragedy’s aftermath as some protocols were not followed, their mistake made the tragedy worse.

In summation of all the evidences gathered and the facts that are presented, Korean Air Flight 801 crash is brought about by the factors that all lead to negative result and in this case, has led to its fatal end. The factors that have affected the plane to crash are the following:
Glide Slope Instrument was not working properly. It was supposed to aid the pilot in the difficulty of landing as bad weather applies to the situation. Bad weather should not have been a factor as it is natural and it is not controlled but in this case, bad weather contributed to the absence of the instrument. There was also a confusion as it appeared to be working when it was not.
Miscalculations of the airport’s location without having to double check it with the tower. The crew did not oversee what was to happen, they thought that they were on the right place. They were blinded by the clouds, and rain.
Situational Awareness of the Pilot-in-command was one of the factors to consider as well, he did not have enough rest before the flight. It was found out that he should be in his Emirates flight but he was too tired for a long hold flight so he was rescheduled for a shorter but red-eye flight.
