This girl was the same bossy girl from before when the kid were waiting of the sea shell activity, although I had no seen her try to take control of a group before. It was also surprising to see her leave the group she was in before, seeing as how the whole time I observed this daycare room she seemed to be in the largest groups, but yet she stayed in this group when there were only two other kids. Eventually, she started taking the majority of the fabric cutouts even though the maximum that could be placed on the board without covering something else is about six. This continued for about a minute until the caregiver that set the game up noticed what was going on. She told the girl that she did not need that many cut-outs and that she needed to share, the girl replied by saying she was helping. The caregiver then asked what her picture was going to be, the girl did not reply and just shrugged. My own thoughts about this age group are rather similar to that of the toddlers, these preschoolers were more aware of the other kids around them, and for the most part the kids want to be in groups, but to me, it still seems that this age group is more considered about their own needs and wants. Much like how Piaget said, although to call it egocentric behavior may be a bit more extreme than what I saw in these short two hours. I believe that the preschool age, in regards to education, is the stage where these kids will begin to shape how they will act in schools once they are old enough. Although, it is good to be able to play along and problem solve by one’s self, I believe it is more important to have group so that the beginning stages of social development can be formed.
