When you think of a leader, who comes to mind? Maybe your mom, dad, coach, a celebrity, or simply your best friend. Whoever that may be, they offer a positive stimuli in your life. A leader influences and motivates a person to do something to change the world. Being a leader, involves confidence wisdom, and responsibility. A leader is confident because they would want their followers to have certainty in what they are doing. If they are not sure of themselves then their followers are going to lack certainty as well. A leader provides wisdom from past experiences and demonstrates right from wrong. A leader shows responsibility and exemplifies what’s important and what's not. Taking responsibility can also result in owning up to the part. Making sure that their followers realize the meaning of doing something they are suppose to do because it is morally and legally right. Martin Luther King, Jr. exemplified leadership by positively impacting the world with his non violent approach. He is important to world history because he contributed to help end legal segregation of African Americans in the South (Lewis), led the Montgomery Bus Boycott, and spoke his famous and life changing “I Have A Dream” speech. There is not going to be a separation between blacks and whites. Equality is going to be spread amongst all. In the speech, he says that one day people are not going to be judged based on their skin color. King was the voice of African Americans and verbalized his idea of how America should be.
