Act 1 Scene 1 – King Hamlet Ghost
On a dark night in Elsinore Denmark, fellow guards Bernardo, Francisco, and Marcellus are hanging out in the battlements of the castle. When guarding, they witness a ghost that resembles the dead king Hamlet. They decide to share the news with Horatio, since he is a scholar and would know what to do. Horatio attempts to talk to the ghost but the ghost refuses to talk to him and walks away. This is when Horatio suggested telling his good friend Hamlet about the ghost. It was also confirmed it was the dead kings ghost as he was wearing the same armor he fought Norway with.

Claudius announcing that he has married his brothers widow. This marriage has only months after the death of King Hamlet. No one had an issue with the wedding expect Claudius’s nephew and son. Hamlet is not fond of Claudius due to him marry his mother. Hamlet is also upset with his mother for moving on so fast. Horatio reveals to Hamlet about the sighting of his father’s ghost. Hamlet then has a desire to figure out this ghost could possibly want.
Significances:
First the first time we get a closer look at Hamlet mind. When speaking to Claudius and Gertrude he shows his personality and the trouble that he faces. In this scene we also meet some key player is Hamlet tragedy such as Claudius, Gertrude, and Horatio. While Horatio scene is significant as it ultimately leads to the interaction between the ghost and Hamlet.
Act 1 scene 3 – Advice
Laertes and Polonius give advice to Ophelia about Hamlet. Laertes states that she could find someone better for her. While Polonius shares with her that whatever Hamlet states in not true and only want to sleep with you. Polonius also councils her to stop seeing Hamlet. Ophelia obeys with what her father and brother illustrates even though she does not …show more content…
Hamlet watches Claudius the whole time to see the reaction on his face. Claudius realizes that the play was set up for him and cut the play short. Hamlet confirms the death of his father.
Significance
This play confirmed to Hamlet that Claudius did indeed kill his father. This makes Hamlet want vengeance for his father’s death. Hamlet till this point did not fully carry through his plans for Claudius. Claudius is this scene realizes the real reason for Hamlet madness and is now afraid of him seizing the throne by murdering him. From this moment forward Claudius spend a lot of time trying to get into Hamlet mind, and trying to figure out what he is feeling, thinking, and what his next move might be.
Act 3 Scene 3 – Almost
Claudius is seen praying to god for forgiveness for his sins. He also admits verbally in the soliloquy that he did indeed kill King Hamlet. While praying Hamlet enters behind him ready with his sword ready to strike. Hamlets decides not to murder him as he is praying asking for god’s forgiveness. Hamlet want him to suffer in both lives and refuses to kill him.
