Understanding the basics of anatomy, physiology and kinesiology is key for the safety of your students. It can help prevent injuries and can help those with prior injuries or limitations to practice safely. When designing your practice, it can help with sequencing, as you are aware of hat proper alignment can do for the student. Anatomy includes the major muscles and bones. Physiology defines what certain parts of your body do and how they do it. Kinesiology is the study of muscular movement. Knowing the mechanics of how our body moves is important when teaching yoga. Knowing about skeletal differences and range of motion, a teacher can work with individual students and give them a plan made just for their body.
