Confucianism is the mainstream value of Chinese people. The ideas of Confucius strongly affect Chinese people’s mind and behavior. Confucianism is a very important part in Chinese history and culture. it acts like intangible guidelines for people to consider what is morally good and bad. Chinese people need to study the Analects of Confucius since primary school. The thoughts of Confucius are so broad and complicated. There are several key values of Confucianism relating to the business organizations, such as Humanity, Righteousness, Honesty, Harmony, Politeness and Moral wisdom.
Humanity 仁
Another term for humanity is benevolence which means to love, respect, and take good care of people around you. The total number of reports analyzed is ten (five-year reports in both Chinese and English language). The table 1 provides a categorization table for the key Confucianism values and the perceived words that should appear in the reports from 2012 to 2016. It is used as guidelines in the following analyzing process. The Confucianism values is in both Chinese words and English words that researcher perceive to be able to pick from the content of the CSR reports. Most of the values were adopted from Zhu and Yao (2008) and Low and Ang (2013) to facilitate a strong backbone for these words in terms of Confucianism values. Each Confucianism value term is simply defined in table 1 and given relevant CSR terms on the example column. The last column shows the perceived Chinese words that may appear in the CSR reports, relating to the Confucianism
