IT2 Kershner demonstrated sustained superior performance as Site Duty Officer, EKMS Local Element and LAB Supervisor at U.S. Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, Far East Detachment Chinhae Korea from 30 May 2015 to 14 July 2016. His professionalism and dedication to duty were exemplified by the following accomplishments:

-Hard Charger. After only being onboard a few months, he completed seven qualifications well ahead of schedule. His willingness to learn and motivation to complete his SDO qualifications contribute greatly to the watch team and illustrate his desire to increase his in rate knowledge.

Personally responsible for the administration of 21 pieces cryptographic equipment as well as the receipt, distribution and destruction of 18 line items of cryptographic material. He performed 76.5 contact hours of EKMS instruction in the proper administration, handling and destruction of COMSEC material to 18 Sailors and two separate commands which greatly enhanced Sailors knowledge when handling EKMS within their daily duties. -Exemplary Supervisor. He led, trained and qualified five personnel in daily watch routine requirements; a major contributor to the overall watch flexibility. He maintained custody of 18 EKMS line items during watch to watch turnover with zero discrepancies. Additionally, he conducted 21 hours of training and spot checks, resulting in a successful on-site EKMS ISI inspection with zero incidents.

-Effective Manager. As Assistant Asset Manager, he updated records for more than 1,000 line items and contributed 48 hours conducting a PC refresh for 160 ONE-NET machines across the Korean peninsula. Additionally, he assisted with the migration of over 280 PLAs from Personal Computer Messaging terminal to Command and Control Office Information Exchange
