Katelyn's Short Story: The Winter Soldier

Katelyn focussed on the task ahead blocking out all distractions, as always. Which was no easy feet in a place as loud as the S.H.E.I.L.D headquarters, but still she kept her head down and continued to work. She was well known as “the girl who works too much and doesn’t know how to relax and have fun.” There was always a commotion at the headquarters, thats why when the bullpen became deathly quiet Katelyn knew something was up. She looked up from her desk to see everybody standing still staring at the doors, following their gazes Katelyn saw Cap walk in followed by the rest of the team. She didn’t quite understand why everybody was so quiet or what they were staring at it wasn’t unusual for the Avengers to walk through here, this was S.H.E.I.L.D’s main base after all. Plus she was on good terms with the team, some might even say they were friends (Katelyn wasn’t really in the habit of making friends at work). “Comfortable” and “small talk” were not two thing Katelyn usually related to one another, but it was an accurate description of what was happening. Hell, Katelyn didn’t even realise she was capable of uncomfortable small talk let alone comfortable small talk. But something about Bucky put her at ease. Chuckles and laughs were exchanged between the two of them as they joked about their dislikes of their names. Agents who were coming on and off the elevator were taken aback to see Katelyn smiling and talking to someone. Usually she was too focussed on work to joke about, and yet here she was basking in the presence of Bucky Barnes.
